The Parish Council
Parish Council is made up from volunteer Parish Councillors and is supported by the Parish Clerk who is the ‘proper officer to the Council’ and is responsible for managing and advising on the Council’s legal, financial and administrative responsibilities.
Elections to the Parish Council are held every five years. If less than 12 candidates put their names forward, no formal election will be held. Between elections residents of Staveley and Ings can be co-opted to the Parish Council by the current councillors.
Councillors are expected to attend 10 council meetings each year, where they discuss issues that are of interest to the community. They liaise and provide a voice to the local community with Westmorland and Furness Council and other partner organisations.
Most councillors are a member of one or more working groups.
All Parish Councillors are invited to the Community Plan Group.
